What is a pendulum, anyway?

It’s simple, elegant, and surprisingly powerful. You can use it to receive yes/no answers to questions, check energetic alignment, or even aid in Reiki and energy healing by detecting imbalances in the body.

And hey, don’t think you need something fancy to get started. While you can grab a gorgeous crystal one from a metaphysical shop (hi, yes, we sell those 😉), you can also use a necklace or keychain in a pinch. Pendulums are more about intention than price tag.

Before pendulums became a staple in the modern witch’s toolkit, they had a very different role. Back in 1602, Galileo Galilei—yes, that Galileo—began studying how pendulums could be used to measure time. The regular, rhythmic swing made them an incredibly accurate tool, and eventually, pendulum clocks became the gold standard in timekeeping for centuries.

They even helped monitor seismic activity—that’s right, pendulums were (and still are) used to detect shifts in the earth during earthquakes. So yeah, they’ve got range.
