A lot of things have been changing left and right for us lately. During this time, I’ve been doing a lot of deconstructing.

What is Deconstructing?

Deconstructing is a deep analysis of something to find all the small pieces and parts, for better or for worse. The current “Deconstruction Movement” is largely rooted in Christianity. Many Christians, past or present, have found inconsistencies in the Bible or in what their pastors are trying to teach them. As a result, many people are leaving Christianity. Some are becoming atheists; others are turning to different spiritualities.

My Personal Deconstruction Journey

In my own journey, I’ve found myself incredibly confused. I stumbled onto Atheist YouTube and found myself nodding along with over 90% of what they were saying. It shook me. I still have my beliefs at my core, but hearing these arguments has me questioning and analyzing everything I once held as truth. And then, of course, Yeshua pops into my head—sometimes critiquing, sometimes agreeing—and that just adds to the chaos.

It’s gotten to the point where Safire and I are both reading the Bible, taking notes on the differences between translations. No one expected that, especially from Safire. But he discovered there’s a dragon in Revelations, and that was all it took to get him hooked. I also happened upon an Orthodox Bible, which contains a few extra books in the Old Testament. Right now, my main focus is the “lost” books of the Bible—the ones not accepted into the traditional canon.

Translation Matters

Here’s a fun fact: when I told my mother I wanted a study Bible, she mentioned that her pastor once said the NIV (New International Version) had changed things so much that many people are questioning its accuracy. The church I went to as a child used the NIV almost exclusively. I probably find that more interesting than the average person, but it definitely caught my attention.

What’s Next?

You can expect a series about my deconstruction journey here on Nyx’s Grove. I’m making changes in my life to better allow for time to write and research, while also being able to spend better quality time with my family. This is just the beginning.
